This is a new role focused on creative development and testing for a major and high-profile government department. Helping create campaigns which lead to positive behaviour change, your work will make a difference to society and peoples’ lives. You will be focused on this one client, and as a new programme and a major win for this established social research team, it presents an opportunity to design, set up and lead the qual side of the programme right from the start.
This is a huge programme and your role will be to lead on the qual side, taking the role of trusted advisor to the client with a very consultative remit. As this one client will be your focus, you can expect to spend a lot of time in the client’s office (near your own) and you will be seen as a key part of their team.
Quality will be central to your remit. This research, often around highly sensitive issues and amongst vulnerable audiences, needs to instruct campaigns to give them the best possible chance of driving the required behaviour change. You must have a passion for quality and best practice – we are looking for someone whose approach is robust and current.
You will need very established qual skills and knowledge and experience of a wide range of techniques. An understanding of quant and mixed methods experience would be a real benefit. And you will need a strong background in comms research; you do not need social research experience but you do need an interest in it.
This is a very client facing role and you will have a wide range of stakeholders; as such, we need to see a track record of establishing senior client relationships, along with instant credibility and gravitas. Much as you will be writing proposals in response to key challenges faced by the client, your role is about delivering the best possible work for this programme – so unusually for this level, business development in the traditional sense is not a key part of the role.
You will need to have a natural interest in developing a team and strong mentoring and coaching skills.
This is a perfect opportunity if you enjoy working closely with one client, have a focus on rigour and quality, love comms and want your work to make a difference.
