This well-regarded independent agency with a wealth of long-standing, leading-brand clients offers a rare combination of what is described as an ‘accommodating, supportive and respectful’ culture with sensibly ambitious growth plans. With a small qual team set up within the last couple of years, things are going well and they are looking for someone to cover the maternity leave of the current Head of Qual. With a remit to continue to promote, embed and grow the qual offer, this is a hands-on role, perfect for someone with the energy, enthusiasm and initiative to make things happen.
This business is so secure and well regarded by clients – so much so that when clients move on to new organisations, they usually take this agency with them. The sector split is broad; around half the qual work is in the financial services sector, the remaining half could not be more varied – from FMCG to funerals, utilities, private healthcare, health clubs, software…The client questions are equally broad including customer experience, branding, innovation and comms and they tend to be skewed towards the more ‘meaty’ challenges.
This is a lovely culture – ambitious yet not pressured, it is clearly a pleasant place to work with a lot of trust and genuine care – the senior team are keen to ensure programmes are adequately resourced and that the staff team are not over-stretched. Turnover is low and when people do leave, there are quite a few examples of them coming back to the agency when they are looking for their next step up.
Forward thinking, they have invested in project management and data visualisation teams – their outputs are described as “wonderful” – they really stand out.
This is a hands-on role: you will be managing a small team, using freelance support and working alongside mixed methods colleagues to help you deliver. You will need established technical skills and must want to roll your sleeves up. All the work is bespoke so you’ll be recommending and using whichever techniques will give the best output, whether that be traditional, digital or a mix of approaches. You will need initiative and a proactive approach, creativity and love to get stuck in to client challenges. Sharp analysis is critical – the outputs are very high quality.
Around half the qual work comes from working alongside the quant team and around half from incoming enquiries – so a talent and passion for proposal-writing are important.
This maternity cover will be for 9-12 months from late June. They are open to full time or 4 days/week and are open to WFH 1 day/week as part of this.
If you are looking to work in a high calibre agency with sharp, agile-thinking people AND you want a decent work-life, please do get in touch.
