This is a brilliant new research project management role in a charity organisation specialising in research for the education sector.
They partner with government departments, other charities and businesses to deliver strategic insight which is used to inform education policy and ultimately improve the education of children and young adults, both in the UK and further afield.
Their work is strategic and high profile; they answer some of the ‘big’ questions surrounding education, and their work is highly valued within the industry.
The project manager role is crucial to the success of these projects, and is a huge growth area within the business. It offers the opportunity to be involved in a variety of research, the results of which have a huge and lasting impact within education.
As a project manager, you’ll be part of an operations team, which provides a first-class service to both internal insight teams and clients.
The research is varied and ranges from assessment testing and trialling to surveys and evaluation pieces, and as well as managing the logistics of the projects, your responsibilities will include:
- liaising with, and advising schools on the projects
- developing and managing online surveys
- coordinating marking events and exercises
- supporting on bids and proposals (eg. providing costings and operational input)
For this role, we need a research project management superstar; someone with end to end research project management experience who not only understands how to manage a research project, but can also oversee data and spot trends and discrepancies – experience of SPSS would be advantageous.
The ability to plan, execute and deliver projects to the very highest standards is crucial, along with an adaptable and solutions driven approach eg. when deadlines change or you think there’s a better way of running the project.
Good communication skills are essential too; you’ll be liaising with school offices and teachers to set up and help manage the trials and assessments, so the ability to translate research terms to non-research staff is essential, and an empathetic approach will help enormously in this regard.
In summary, we need a brilliant project manager, with experience in managing research projects and a passion for education, who wants to transfer this experience to the charity sector.
