This is a comms-focused role working of a wonderful portfolio of mainly FMCG brands – along with one of the largest, highest profile consumer tech brands. The work spans pre-testing, campaign evaluation and ad effectiveness and these clients have enormous marketing spends both above and below the line. So, if you love marketing communications, get a buzz from working on big brand names and want to work in a forward thinking, dynamic environment, this would be a really exciting role.
The first thing that stands out about this mid-sized, growing agency is the scale of opportunity for career development. The organisation is enormously successful and growing at a rate of knots, so you can stick your hand up to get involved in new projects, develop specialist areas of interest (recent examples include advanced analytics, developing new processes…) and travel: someone in the team recently went over to work in Singapore – there is a very real opportunity to travel here. And there’s no waiting around for promotion either – you get promoted when you are ready and there are lots of examples of people moving up quickly, both as the result of the level of exposure and the work coming in. The managers are bright, motivated and experienced – and training and development are taken very seriously.
What’s different about it here is that the research team focus on providing the insight and resulting consultancy advice to their clients: most of the project management and business development is the responsibility of other teams. You get to input into these but the analysis and managing the client relationships are the key parts of the role.
And work-life balance is taken very seriously with regular reviews of workload and reallocation of work amongst the teams during busy periods. People pull together and help one another out – there’s a real team spirit.
For this role, we need someone with a good degree and strong numeracy skills – ideally with SPSS. A genuine interest in marketing, communications and brands is key – but it doesn’t matter which sectors you have worked on in the past. We need someone who gets brands, with the gravitas to work as one with the client’s marketing teams. Fit is critical: we need smart people who have an opinion, who are team spirited, driven, dynamic, curious and interested in the digital world.
