In this role, you’ll be working on issues that matter to global brands and their customers. You’ll be working alongside very senior clients on ‘hot topics’ which really impact on their customers’ views and their share prices. This team focus on providing insight and recommendations around all aspects of corporate reputation for global organisations. These are often very challenging and complex issues and the team work at the very highest level: usually the clients are board level. The core work is identifying current and upcoming issues, recommending how to deal with them, understanding stakeholder and influencer views and considering what action they should take. It’s very varied – internet security, environmental issues, impact of Brexit, oil prices, obesity … It’s often about identifying the key issues – then looking at how the company can manage them.

This team runs like a small business (there are around 30 of them) – they are entrepreneurial and that’s how they like it – they run in an autonomous way.
The work they do is both quant-only and mixed methods. On the quant side, they do some multi-country reputation tracker but it is mainly bespoke work – as well as mixed methods work. You’ll definitely need to be at home with the data. Equally there is plenty of opportunity to get involved in qualitative research – this tends to be in-depth interviews with very senior stakeholders: senior execs, MPs, etc. So we are open to hearing from quant-focused candidates who are interested in getting involved in qual as well as mixed methods people.
As well as getting ‘out there’ with your clients and their stakeholders (this is not a desk job), you’ll be focusing on the insight and analysis – a newly created and growing project management team is increasingly taking over PM so you get to focus on your clients and their businesses. You’ll need an interest in the corporate world but not necessarily a background in reputation research – this client is very open on the sectors you have worked in. You’ll need the confidence to work alongside senior stakeholders and clients – you will get exposure to this quickly. And you must be a self-starter.
