Associate Director; quantitative; social research; high profile studies; respected global agency

This is an exciting opportunity for an established quant-led researcher to deliver top-quality research to influence and inform Government decision making, helping to uncover and understand public attitudes towards the big trends in society. Our client is one of the most highly-regarded social research teams in the UK. Working closely with a mixture of public and third sector clients, the work here plays an active role in exploring cross-cutting issues at the heart of government, including public service reform, regulation, and emerging policy challenges. Managing high profile studies, which influence and inform your clients’ decision-making, service provision, and support, you will certainly see the impact of your work.

We are looking for a primarily quant-focused researcher (though there is opportunity for some qual work for the right candidate) to join this mixed methods team. Public sector research experience would be a great bonus, and a genuine interest in this area is key.

Much of your work will focus on the delivery of a range of surveys. Often investigating sensitive and contentious issues for clients, recent projects include; investigating perceptions of the UK at home and abroad; public attitudes towards fireworks; establishing what can be considered offensive language; and understanding public attitudes to social care funding reform in the UK. There is also a lot of work that focuses on very current big societal questions, including contentious issues – for example recent work on contested heritage (such as statues of historic figures), and exploring online news consumption.

This is a full and varied role; you will oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle, from inception to design of questionnaires and sample strategies, to leading analysis plans to deliver final data and reporting outputs. You will be responsible for the sign-off of deliverables which meet clients’ and stakeholders’ objectives, adopting creative approaches where relevant. Writing smaller proposals and inputting into more complex ones, the right candidate will have demonstrable experience of writing winning proposals, including drafting costs.

To be successful, you’ll enjoy working closely with clients, be comfortable managing and delivering projects at a fast pace, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy leading a team.
