Business Management Director  – social research; devise, shape and implement a new data collection strategy

This is a rare opportunity to define and drive a valuable and exciting new offering for a global research agency. This is a significant initiative for the business with huge strategic focus and senior level backing.

The social research arm of this agency delivers research which helps governments and not for profit organisations create and improve public policy, services and programmes at a global level. Working across a wide range of areas from health to education, civil justice, environment, gender equality, mobility and migration they help their clients build a better, fairer society.

With huge investment in their data collection offering, they are building a new team to focus on the growth and delivery of their already extremely successful fieldwork and support services.

The BMD will devise and implement a data collection strategy and shape and lead this offering; working with a team of experts to support this growth and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external research partners, and ultimately raising the profile of data collection.

A visible and senior position, there is a strong leadership piece here, and the role has significant stakeholder engagement and communication with internal teams (research and operations) to develop long-term strategic plans for data collection

There is also a client facing element to this role; partnering with some of the agency’s biggest social research clients to provide first class data collection expertise and guidance on some really significant and high-profile projects.

We are looking for a strong leader with an in-depth expertise in data collection, specifically using face-to-face and telephone modes. Someone who can devise and implement a large-scale strategy which can drive growth from an operational and commercial perspective .

With an ideas-led, strategic approach, you will know all there is to know about offline data collection, and will also be happy to roll up your sleeves and see a project through from start to finish.

Whether you are currently working within offline fieldwork, or have done in the past, this experience is essential, and someone who can bring something different to the role eg. from a smaller business or from a different sector would be welcomed, though some experience in social research is beneficial.
