Consultant/Snr. Consultant: social research; focus on driving trade, business and innovation

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the social/public sector side, focusing on research which informs both policy and communications related to driving trade, business, and innovation in the UK.

Working with key government departments and leading organisations in the social research space, the programmes here are very broad. Recent projects include researching the effectiveness of covid support packages for businesses, considering whether there are sufficient skills to drive new areas such as AI and data science in the UK and what needs to be done to enhance these growing areas, understanding how businesses are adapting to different trade rules as a result of Brexit and how this can be improved, measuring perceptions of the UK as a place to trade and invest…

What the team say is really special is that they get to know their clients very well, either because projects are long term or they conduct ongoing programmes that build on previous work. As a result, the team say they really get to see the impact of their work and they find this very motivating.

Much of the work here is in-depth interviews with a very wide range of audiences including influential policy makers and thought leaders; in addition, the team use lots of innovative ways of working and their clients are really open to that i.e., eye tracking, augmented reality, online communities, digital ethnographic studies…there is definitely the opportunity to think differently.

The right candidate will possess a solid foundation of research skills, and be either used to running smaller end-to-end projects of your own, or key parts of larger projects. As well as demonstrating good analytical skills and a client-focused approach, we are looking for an excellent level of attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a solutions-focus. Equally important are enthusiasm, a friendly approach, good communication skills and a genuine interest in a relevant policy area/s.

This is a very prestigious agency, well known and recognised for its robust methodologies, innovative approach and strategic outputs.  A highly innovative and forward-thinking environment, this is a place for people who love to take ownership and make things happen – you are given autonomy and support to do just that. The people here are genuinely curious and interested in what they do. The training on offer is second-to-none and development opportunities are huge.

As a result of all this, people stay – they talk about being challenged, consistently offered new opportunities, being listened to, and enjoying being in a culture where anyone at any level can have an opinion, be heard and lead on projects.
