Director: health; insight AND pure strategy consulting; multi-award winning; outstanding culture

This consultancy is held in very high regard in both the insight and strategy arenas. Multi-award winning, they operate at the very strategic end of the insight spectrum – their clients say that they go to them with their most challenging questions. And they offer pure strategy consulting, around broad business-related questions.

They work with their clients to take the work to the next level, both working with key client stakeholders and teams to embed the work in the business and also working with their client’s other consultancies and agencies (media, creative, innovation…) to ensure the work is listened to and incorporated in all activity. Working here, you really do see the impact of your work.

Added to this, the culture is described as vibrant and fun; it’s grown up and you can expect responsibility and autonomy.

The health team has experienced consistent and impressive growth and as such, they are hiring for a new Director.  This  team is a huge priority for the business and there is significant investment in it. Around 70% of their work is strategic insight work: this is complex around behaviour change, market entry strategy, patient journey mapping, brand strategy, defence strategy… And, unusually, 30% of their work is pure strategy consulting and doesn’t incorporate research/insight. Sometimes they work on this themselves, sometimes they enlist the in-house strategy team to work alongside them. Projects on this side are broad, including developing a sales model for a client, helping a client resolve an HR issue, indication mapping ie identifying the next therapy area a client should focus on…

They describe themselves as method agnostic – dissecting the client’s business issue and proposing the appropriate methodology to address it rather than selling specific products.

This is a senior role: you will be right-hand person to the team head who is increasingly taking on more of a global focus.  You will need to be credible with clients, happy to break down the more challenging questions and roll up your sleeves in terms of leading high profile projects (and be happy to spend around 70% of your time on client work. The remaining time will be spent on helping grow the business. It will suit a strategic thinker: someone who really understands client issues and does not take a brief at face value.

Equally important is someone who wants to help others grow rather than being a sole player.

This is a wonderful, collaborative team – a happy ship, with a mix of long-standing members and new people driven off the back of their growth. New people from other healthcare agencies say it is a breath of fresh air: that you are treated well, with respect and that you get a good work life balance. There is lots of trust with no micro-managing. And there is a lot of flexibility (– it’s really realistic around kids drop off, school events etc.)

Definitely a role with a difference…Please contact Stephanie Fairbank either by email: [email protected] or telephone: 07595 821535. Visit our website for other great research jobs www.pollenrecruitment.com
