An exciting opportunity to join a successful and growing team who carry out many of the highest profile, important evaluation pieces around public policy and public services. This team are consistently winning some of the most sought-after evaluations – many of which are multi-million pound and multi-year. This role has been created as the result of impressive growth, so we are open to hearing from people making the step up to Manager-level, as well as from early-doors Managers wanting more exposure.
The team consists of impressive and highly regarded evaluators – and they work alongside and have ready access to other specialists – people who are objectively seen as experts in their field (methodolgists, behavioural experts, ethnography experts…). They also work alongside external experts – again, people who are widely recognised as leaders in their field including high profile economists and academics. Across the board, everyone is committed to and passionate about making a difference – to individuals, often the most vulnerable people, and to society as a whole. It runs through them all.
Alongside their large scale, high value projects, the team also run smaller programmes to ensure that team members get exposure to running end-to-end programmes (as well as running parts of larger evaluations) – people’s development really is a priority here.
There is huge breadth of work; from social care (protecting young, vulnerable people, encouraging the overall development of young people), health care (the anti-drugs policy and associated services, reducing drug-related crime), how to make streets safer, encouraging innovation in business – as well as lots of work around covid… If you enjoy variety, this role would offer you that in spades. That said, if you have an interest in a particular area, this can be catered for too. This team are experiencing significant growth and as a result, there is much flexibility around the scoping of the specifics.
The work evaluates the impact of policy and services in order to inform policy and service development going forward. This spans process evaluation and how the policy/services were implemented, impact evaluation and what difference they made, and economic evaluation in terms of whether they represented value for money. The evaluation programmes are often highly complex and challenging – very often there are multiple initiatives, audiences and funding streams to be considered. They usually span multi-methodologies.
Business is booming area and the team is expanding quickly. As such, it is a very exciting time to join.
For this role, we are looking for evaluation specialists AND people with a broad research background with some evaluation experience. We need to see mixed methods skills; you don’t have to be an expert in qual and quant, there are lots of experts on hand, but you need to be able to understand both in order to “orchestrate” mixed methods programmes. We need people who are comfortable overseeing the delivery of programmes – proven project management skills are essential. We also need people who enjoy being client facing. And as importantly, we need energetic, enthusiastic team players – this is a lovely team to be part of!
