Research Manager/Associate Director: social research; evaluation – help build a better society

The breadth of work here is far-reaching, from social care (protecting young, vulnerable people, encouraging the overall development of young people), health care (the anti-drugs policy and associated services, reducing drug-related crime), how to make streets safer, encouraging innovation in business… You would get to work on a rich variety of important subjects and challenges.

This role spans both social research and evaluation studies. You might be researching what is actually happening “on the ground” in key public services with key stakeholders, identifying issues and possible improvements, trialling new ideas, running and evaluating pilots, then taking learnings to shape – and then evaluate – national roll outs.  The work includes important, large-scale, highly complex and challenging process, impact and economic evaluations where there are multiple initiatives, audiences and funding streams to be considered.

This is mixed methods work and you would work alongside internal specialists, many of whom are widely considered to be leading lights in their field, and also external experts (leading academics, economists…) in order to create the most robust insight which can be trusted to inform future policy and service development.

You can expect to be managing client relationships, organising and managing projects, carrying out analysis across quant and qual and be involved in developing clients – there is lots of incoming work so you’ll be inputting into proposals and bids.

We are looking for an established mixed methods researcher who is used to and enjoys managing multiple projects, with some public sector/social/not for profit research experience. Important are client facing skills, a passion for analysis and pulling out key themes, good communication and experience of managing end to end projects.
