Senior Associate Director/Research Director: major, high profile evaluations; successful and growing; development opportunities

This team of evaluation specialists prides itself on its delivery of robust and practical work, its commitment to innovation and thought leadership as well as its trusted client relationships. Striving to improve public policy and inspire a better society, the insight they generate impacts on people’s lives – it makes a real and very positive difference.

This is a front-facing role where you will be developing close relationships with your very high-profile portfolio of clients across many of the key government departments. Variety is key here; this team works on very wide-ranging subject matter. That said, if you have a specialism and want to focus on that, there will be scope to do so.

A mixed methods role, you might be a qual or quant specialist with sufficient knowledge of the other to know when it would be needed. You will have access to the wide range of internal specialists (i.e. methodologists, quant specialists who have an in-depth understanding about rigorous samples sizes, qual specialists who understand which techniques will reveal the best insight, ethnographic experts…).  In addition, you will work with external specialists who are leaders in their fields – for example leading economists and academics who bring specialist knowledge.  The focus here is on the creation of the most robust insight in order to improve and optimise policy development and service provision.

Heading up a team of high performing juniors, you’ll be responsible for harnessing their talent and motivating them to achieve their very best.

To have the credibility and gravitas you will need with your clients and your team, ideally you’ll need strong mixed method and evaluation skills, including experience of overseeing process, impact and economic evaluations and evaluation feasibility studies. You’ll need a proven track record of overseeing complex evaluation projects across the project lifecycle, from initial design through to delivering outstanding debriefs.

The client is also open to people who have a mainly commercial research background along with some not-for-profit research – training can be given – so long as the passion and genuine interest is there.

You’ll need a strategic approach, be able to create business plans which generate growth, work with your team to deliver against these plans and be able to develop client relationships based on the value you and your team add.

As importantly, you’ll need to be a strong team player with natural communication skills who is down to earth, creative and passionate.  This is a fun, supportive, collaborative team of people who pull together – we need someone who fits in.

This is a high performing team – they are winning work off the back of their quality offer – it is a buoyant, positive place to work.  Development opportunities abound in terms of your own learning and career progression – and all in a sensible, supportive structure where people stay for the longer term and clearly thrive.
