We are looking to recruit a Senior Consultant with strong experience of policy research to join a team focused on the environment and sustainability. The focus is on critical areas including the transition to net zero, climate resilience, nature recovery clean growth, decarbonisation… You do not need a background in these areas so long as you have the technical skills and experience and a genuine interest.
This team works with UK and international government departments, agencies, and NGOs to support better evidence-based policy decisions and they help their clients through all stages of the policy cycle, from diagnosing a problem through to policy design, monitoring and evaluation.
Fascinating, current and thorny issues are the top of the agenda and the work you do will genuinely impact on policy decisions, both here in the UK and internationally. You will be helping develop policies, assessing the impact of new policies and looking at the challenges involved in policy changes.
Recent work has included examining people’s attitudes to climate change and how they translate into action, identifying the steps required to engage the public and secure their support for the actions required to reach net zero, considering the supply of climate finance to emerging markets to accelerate investment in renewable technology projects and citizen engagement workshops on climate resilient and net zero food systems in emerging markets.
Much of this work is very high profile, and often commented on by well known public figures in this space.
You will be involved in all aspects of research and evaluation using quant and qual techniques including managing clients, managing projects to ensure delivery to time and budget, drafting reports and outputs and in developing business in this area – all with support from brilliant leaders in the team. You will also play a role in generally advancing this team’s knowledge and reach – both in terms of attending events and also inputting into thought leadership pieces.
For this role, we are looking for experience of policy research – of policy development, assessing the potential impact of policies and evaluating the impact of policies. We need to see quant and qual research skills. You will need to have a proven ability to lead on research projects and keep them running to time and budget and you will need to be analytically minded with strong attention to detail.
A highly innovative and forward-thinking environment, this is a place for people who love to take ownership and make things happen – you are given autonomy, with support to do just that. The people here are genuinely curious and interested in what they do. The training on offer is second-to-none and development opportunities, here and overseas should you wish, are huge.
