Senior Consultant: evaluation; social issues: crime, security, migration, employment, education…

This successful and highly regarded global research agency is looking for an experienced evaluator to manage high profile and important evaluations which inform policy and service delivery across a wide variety of policy areas.

This role will see you managing some of the most impactful, challenging and sensitive evaluation studies across all aspects of crime (including domestic abuse, serious violence, youth crime, modern slavery), justice and the justice system (including victim support, policing, prisons, courts, restorative justice), security threats (including cyber-crime, extremism, state threats) migration (all aspects of regular and irregular migration, refuges, integration, cohesion as well as employment, education and social care.

Working alongside key government departments, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of evaluation projects (process, impact and economic), as part of a wider team which incorporates highly regarded social researchers and economists. You will ensure high quality work is delivered to budget and time, working closely with client and partner stakeholders, as well as internal teams both in the UK and internationally.

The client relationship side is key here, in terms of developing relationships with current clients and helping develop business to ensure continued growth, supported by the wider team.

You will work alongside senior managers to provide both strategic and operational management of the team, and you will support junior staff in their development. Opportunities abound for profile raising – speaking at conferences and seminars and multi-media marketing – as well as for thought leadership – should you wish to get involved in this.

For this role, we need to see a strong academic track record in social sciences as well as a track record of designing and delivering social policy evaluations from a commercial environment. We need to see a good understanding of a range of evaluation approaches and mixed methods research skills. Experience or an interest in the policy areas is a must. Experience of developing strong client relationships and experience inputting into bids and proposals (around £200-300k) are critical to success in this role. And attention to detail and proven project management skills are a must-have. Knowledge of statistical or econometric methods using quasi-experimental designs and/or RCTs would be ideal, but are not a must have.

As well as the opportunity to work on some of the most important evaluations in these critical areas, you will work with highly respected experts, both internally (this agency is very much “full service”) and within partner organisations.  You will be in a team which is motivated and dynamic, in a culture where you are given head-space and autonomy and which offers both brilliant learning opportunities and a very strong and flexible package.
